Championing the Crops of Hawaiʻi’s
Past and Future
The ʻUlu Ambassador program was created, in partnership with Hawaiʻi ʻUlu Cooperative, to build an influential network of chefs, educators, farmers, nutritionists and other food-loving community supporters that endorses ʻulu and other staple crops important to Hawaiian culture and the future of Hawai’i’s food system. We aim to create positive change in our local food culture by inspiring Hawaiʻi residents to eat more locally-grown ingredients.
Why We Partner With HUC
The Hawai’i ‘Ulu Co-op, founded in 2016, comprises a network of small-scale, diversified farms in Hawai‘i that grow ʻulu and other crops indigenous and/or important to Hawaiʻiʻs culture and history.
The co-op is committed to the revival of these crops to strengthen Hawai‘i’s food security and spread the value of aloha ‘āina (love for the land) by using environmentally responsible growing and production methods.
